PORCHE Answering System
We
have installed a PORCHE automated voice
answering system that is used after-hours and on
weekends for large outages or for scattered
small outages covering a wide area. This system
is designed primarily to handle the influx of
phone calls during power outages. With this
system, as many as 29 phone calls can be
answered at one time.
Once an outage occurs, more of Pennyrile’s
members can call in and have their calls
answered. Our members will be required to
submit their phone number (of their service
address) so that the PORCHE can accurately
locate where the outage is. These calls are
listed on a screen in the Dispatcher’s office.
Also, if a member knows where the problem has
occurred, a message can be recorded for the
Dispatcher.
Once we are aware of the problem, and line crews
are at the scene, Pennyrile can record a message
that can be heard by the members during an
outage call. This system will allow line crews
to be at the problem more promptly, and it will
reduce the amount of time you are without power.
