Beautify the Bluegrass 2019

Beautify the Bluegrass 2019

This year, Pennyrile Electric selected the Elkton-Todd County Park for their Beautify the Bluegrass project.  The Elkton-Todd County Park is located in Elkton, KY.  It has three baseball/softball fields, a lighted basketball court, two tennis courts, a skate park, walking trail, playground equipment and two pavilions.  The park is used daily and has been a topic of discussion for needed improvements with local residents.

Pennyrile Electric scheduled a meeting with local officials and park representatives to discuss potential improvements for the park.  After a site visit, it was decided that some fresh paint, a little pressure washing and some landscaping improvements would enhance the overall look and feel of the park.

With the help of a few local businesses and a group of young people from Otoe Baptist Church and Camp Crossway in Red Rock Oklahoma, work was underway.  Pennyrile Electric employees painted six dugouts, multiple pieces of playground equipment, a walking bridge, a picnic pavilion and a maintenance shed.  They also planted multiple shrubs, ten crabapple trees, and a weeping willow along the entrance of the park.

As the project came to an end, the efforts of everyone that had a part in beautifying the park was evident.  Pennyrile Electric would like to extend a special thanks to the following businesses for their assistance:

Highlandbrook Nursery for providing a landscaping plan, along with trees, shrubs and mulch

Otoe Baptist Church and Camp Crossway young people for painting and planting shrubs

Whitney Westerfield for Aerial Photography

Sears Tree Service for digging the holes to plant the trees

Dorris Blick for the removal of several stumps so new trees could be planted

Hailey Do it Best for supplying paint and materials

APRIL IS LINEWORKER APPRECIATION MONTH

APRIL IS LINEWORKER APPRECIATION MONTH

Kentucky’s electric cooperatives are celebrating Lineworker Appreciation Day on Monday, April 9, and recognizing their line crews the entire month of April.

Pennyrile Electric honors the dedicated men and women who often perform their duties in dangerous conditions to keep the lights on. Whether they are restoring power during a storm or providing life-saving advice during safety programs, we proudly recognize all electric lineworkers who work hard to support local cooperative efforts.

Our lineworkers are responsible for keeping over 5,000 miles of line across nine counties working to bring safe, reliable power to your home and our local community 24/7, regardless of the weather, holidays or personal considerations.

Pennyrile Electric invites members to take a moment and thank a lineworker for the work they do. Throughout the month of April, use #ThankaLineworker to show your support for the men and women who are the power behind your power.
